How do I know if my carbon part is damaged?

Surface damage such as scratches, chips, and lacquer failure is visible. Structural damage — delamination, internal cracking, UV resin degradation — often is not. If a part has been in an impact or shows any soft spots or discolouration, professional inspection is advisable before continued use.

Can delamination be repaired?

Yes, in most cases. Localised early-stage delamination can be reinjected with resin under vacuum and restored to full strength. Widespread delamination across the entire part surface typically requires replacement.

Is a carbon crack always visible?

No. The surface lacquer can mask underlying fibre cracks entirely. A part that looks intact may have compromised structural integrity beneath the clear coat. This is particularly relevant for splitters, diffusers, and other aerodynamic parts under load.

How do you test carbon fibre integrity?

We perform a combination of visual inspection under controlled lighting, tap testing for delamination, and flex testing. For structurally critical parts we can arrange NDT (non-destructive testing) referral if required.

What happens after inspection?

You receive a written report with photos detailing the findings and a recommendation: safe to use, repair recommended, or replacement required. If repair or replacement is needed, we provide a quote immediately.
